Six-year-old Rozana Gashi underwent surgery September 6th at Saint Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York. Dr. Sean Levchuck performed the life-saving procedure on this little girl from Pristina, Kosovo. Dr. Levchuck emerged from the operating room to the visitor's lounge and told Rozana’s father, Emrulla, that everything had gone extremely well and that the hole in Rozana’s heart has been closed once and for all. The expression on Emrulla’s face remained the same. Like many parents whose children were taken into the operating room, he wanted to see his daughter with his own eyes. Soon, he was brought to the recovery room to see his daughter. When their eyes met, father and daughter both broke into big smiles, reflecting the joy both felt. The joy of knowing that heart disease was a thing of the past. The joy of the gift of life bestowed upon a little girl from so far away.
